It will be held at Guwahati, the capital of = Assam. and at a field site in Tezpur, which is about four hours by road = from Guwahati. Course participants will also visit Kaziranga, Orang and = Nameri National Parks, all of which are located close to Tezpur. = Kaziranga and Orang National Parks consist mainly of riverine and = grassland vegetation and are best known for their rhino, tiger and deer = populations. Nameri National Park is situated along the foothills of the = eastern Himalayas, and its forest habitat is home to elephants, tigers, = wild dogs, gaur, bear and numerous bird species. Visits to these parks = will provide excellent opportunities to observe wildlife, and to gain = first-hand knowledge of issues related to the conservation and management = of biological diversity..=20 Course Costs: The course fee is $1150 excluding airfare and health insurance. The fee = will cover all expenses for tuition, food, accommodation, use of teaching = facilities, local travel, course supplies and special events during the = course. All applicants must include letters confirming financial support = with their applications.=20 Eligibility and Application: The course is most appropriate for those interested in conservation = biology, animal ecology and behavior, biodiversity inventory and monitoring= techniques and protected areas management. University students and = graduates from developed countries and wildlife personnel from developing = country government agencies, non-governmental organizations and universitie= s are eligible to apply for the course.
