Subject: ChemPrep - Reaction database

Here is a new product on chemical reactions that appears to be worth examining.
I found it on the website of ISI. To start with major research centres in
chemistry such as IISc, NCL, IICT and some of the larger universities can take
a trial subscription.

Philadelphia, PA, USA - May 1, 1997 - The Institute for Scientific
Information(R) (ISI) today announced the immediate availability of
ChemPrep, a reaction database available on CD-ROM which provides
researchers with graphical summaries of reactions, complete
bibliographic and reaction information, and full author abstracts
from the world's leading organic chemistry journals. ChemPrep is
searchable by substructure, transformation, or text. Data will be
available for over 300,000 reactions from 1986 to the present.

More than 35,000 new organic syntheses are indexed in ChemPrep each
year, providing comprehensive information on the reactants and
products of each reaction, including amounts and concentrations of
chemicals used and reaction conditions. The new database is updated
quarterly.

"Chemists choose synthetic methods every day, but have not always
had convenient and affordable access to a timely and comprehensive
reaction database" said Matthew Clark, Ph.D, Director of Marketing
and New Product Development, ISI. "ChemPrep offers CD-ROM access to
more than a decade of published synthetic methods. With ChemPrep,
chemists will have ready access to the information they need."

An annual subscription to ChemPrep includes three quarterly,
cumulative updates and an annual archival disc, as well as all the
necessary software for drawing and searching structures and text.
Operating requirements specify an IBM or 100% compatible PC
(minimum 486 with 33Mhz required); MS-DOS version 5.0 or higher;
Windows version 3.1 or later; 8MB RAM; 4MB free disk space; and a
CD-ROM drive.

The Institute for Scientific Information, headquartered in
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has been creating innovative
information tools for the scientific community for more than forty
years. Its extensive line of advanced research products, available
in diverse media, provides fast, effective ways to search the
world's journal literature. ISI produces weekly current awareness
tools such as Current Contents(R), as well as a line of Citation
Databases including the Science Citation Index(R). Other chemistry
products from ISI include Index Chemicus(R), Current Chemical
Reactions(R), and Reaction Citation Index(TM). Ordering of
full-text articles covered in the ISI database is available through
the ISI document delivery service, The Genuine Article(R).
