If your planning on attending the WEEC's opening night awards banquet be sure to participate in the first annual Silent Auction, which will start at 6:15 pm during the T.A.C. sponsored reception. The auction is designed to raise funds for student education. AEE has awarded $375,000 in educational scholarships. Many firms have donated some great items for this important cause. For more details: http://www.energycongress.com 2) Executive Director meets with Senator Jeff Bingaman in Washington, DC Recently, Albert Thumann, Executive Director of the Association of Energy Engineers, met with Senator Jeff Bingaman (D-NM) to discuss the status of national energy policy initiatives and to present him with the Association of Energy Engineers' Energy Management Executive of the Year Award. Senator Bingaman chairs the committee on Energy and Natural Resources with jurisdiction for oversight and legislative responsibilities for national energy policy. He expressed his optimistic opinion that the House and Senate will reach a compromise bill this year. The Senate Bill, commonly known as the Energy Policy Act of 2002, advances new technologies that both create energy and use it more efficiently. Senator Bingaman has played the leadership role in promoting this comprehensive national energy policy legislation, and for this reason he has been recognized by AEE as the Energy Management Executive of the Year for 2002. 3) AEE Teams Up With Advance Transformer to Offer Key Training & Benefits to ESCO's Participating in the E.D.G.E.
