2) Executive Director meets with Senator Jeff Bingaman in Washington, DC

Recently, Albert Thumann, Executive Director of the Association of Energy
Engineers, met with Senator Jeff Bingaman (D-NM) to discuss the status of
national energy policy initiatives and to present him with the
Association of Energy Engineers' Energy Management Executive of the Year
Award. Senator Bingaman chairs the committee on Energy and Natural
Resources with jurisdiction for oversight and legislative
responsibilities for national energy policy. He expressed his optimistic
opinion that the House and Senate will reach a compromise bill this year.

The Senate Bill, commonly known as the Energy Policy Act of 2002,
advances new technologies that both create energy and use it more
efficiently. Senator Bingaman has played the leadership role in promoting
this comprehensive national energy policy legislation, and for this
reason he has been recognized by AEE as the Energy Management Executive
of the Year for 2002.
