Thanks Regards Ayesha ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------- Dear Lis-forum members You may be aware of the initiative Informatics has taken in setting up J-Gate, the e-journal Internet gateway. Preliminary announcement about the service was made during the 7th Annual Informatics Lecture last November. We are now ready with beta version of the gateway, with a couple of operational services. J-Gate's website address is http://j-gate.informindia.com/. Beta version supports following features: 1. Directory of about 1,500 e-journals, including free, free-against-print and additional payment e-journals, with links to journal and publisher sites 2. TOC access to journals from IOP and Springer journals 3. Bibliographic database search for about 12,000 articles for IOP journals Also supported are a few free services: 1. 'Trial offers by publishers' - regularly updated information about e-journals available for free trial access. Journals are categorised by subjects. 2. 'Resources for librarians' - directory of e-journal publishers, e-journals in Library and Information Science and Elec- tronic Publishing, discussion forums and other sources related to e-journals and Indian e-journals. 3. 'Demo access' - Free access to a portion of the J-Gate directory. FAQ page on J-Gate site gives more details, including our future plans. Full access to J-Gate is currently restricted to journal subscription clients of Informatics. If you are a subscription client of Informatics, contact us to get user id and password. We can also issue trial access to non-subscription clients, on specific request. J-Gate is currently hosted on a remote, shared web server and you may experience slow response. We are in the process of setting up dedicated Internet infrastructure in a few weeks and expect improved access speeds. I welcome you to use J-Gate and give your valuable suggestions and comments to make it more useful. Please bring this message to the notice of your colleagues. If you face any problems in using J-Gate, do not hesitate to contact me. With warm regards Ayesha Ayesha Taranum Information Analyst,Infosoft Division Informatics India Ltd.
