Its principal concerns are crisis management and the provision of quick, efficient aid to those areas that require it the most. In the longer term it hopes to achieve, through proactive reforms, an atmosphere conducive to conserving India^Òs wildlife and its habitat. WTI invites applications for the following posts: 1.Co-ordinator, Wild Rescue The Wild Rescue programme aims to establish a series of scientifically managed wildlife rehabilitation and re-introduction centres throughout India for rescuing confiscated, injured, maimed or temporarily disadvantaged wild animals from their natural environments. Its mission is to put such animals back where they belong. Additionally the programme also has a strong outreach component, and along with other programmes of WTI, it takes part in rescue and rehabilitation operations and provides technical assistance to other like minded individuals and NGO^Òs involved in wildlife rescue. The co-ordinator will run this programme, formulate new projects and liase with the government and donors. The ideal candidate will have a veterinary degree with at least 6-7 years experience in running a programme. The candidate should have strong interpersonal, communication and organisational skills and the ability to lead a team. The position is based in Delhi but will involve extensive travelling. 2.Manager, Assam Rescue Centre Wild Rescue Programme^Òs first rescue centre is coming up in collaboration with the state government, adjacent to the Kaziranga National Park in Assam. The centre will be a state-of-art equipped facility, which will be a trend setter for other such efforts in the country. This will be supported by other satellite centres in the Northeast and is expected to provide care and expertise to the animals in that area. The manager will be responsible for setting up the centre from scratch and look after its day to day administration. S/he will liase with the government, ministry, local authorities, people and whoever else necessary for running it. We are looking for a practical level headed person with strong administrative and problem solving skills who will participate in the strategic planning for the center. S/he should have strong oral and written communication skills, ability to develop, administer and monitor budgets and work effectively with others in a multi disciplinary team environment. The ideal candidate will be a veterinarian or a zoo manager with at least 6-7 years of demonstrated experience in personnel management, team building and the vision to work in a wildlife environment. Candidates who may not have all the above qualifications but have a strong interest in this area are also encouraged to apply. The position is on-site and fluency in spoken and written Assamese will be an asset. 3.Veterinarian, Assam Rescue Centre This is a hands-on position and WTI is looking for a veterinarian with proven animal handling and treatment skills. The Veterinarian shall provide and oversee comprehensive clinical veterinary services to the rescued wild animals which include mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians participate in centre^Òs sponsored conservation projects, oversee the medical records for the animal collection; and provides in-house education, second medical opinions and technical training for staff members. The ideal candidate will have a BVSc or BVSc and AH, with VCI licensure and with specialisation in medicine or surgery or wildlife sciences with at least one year^Òs experience in a Zoo setting or in wildlife medicine. The position is based on-site and involves travel in the Northeast. Fluency in spoken and written Assamese will be an asset. 4.Keeper, Assam Rescue Centre Two keepers with at least two years varied wildlife handling experience in a Zoo or similar set-ups to provide support services and look after the animals kept in the centre. The positions are on-site. Retired keepers in good health can also be considered. Apply with references. 5.Watchman A watchman in the age group of 35-40 years with armed forces or a para military background is needed for the Assam centre. Animal handling skills will be an added advantage. 6.Driver, Assam Rescue Centre Person with 3-4 years of medium heavy vehicle driving experience required to drive the centre^Òs animal ambulance.
