This position is funded in part through an NSF Water and Watersheds project in the Ipswich River watershed. The Watersheds project is directed at understanding how human activities in the Ipswich watershed have altered the hydrologic budget and nitrogen dynamics and at predicting future effects of economic growth and land use change. DUTIES: Monitoring water quality in the river and in small streams draining a variety of land covers, laboratory analysis of nutrient concentrations and in using mathematical models of water flow and nutrient dynamics for the entire watershed. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: College graduate with a major in biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, computer science, engineering or ecology. Strong mathematical skills, experience in independent research (e.g., senior thesis or REU project) and coursework with laboratory and field components.
