summer, with extensive background in city and regional planning, geography,
with a strong understanding of land use planning and natural resource
issues.

GIS REQUIREMENTS - Intermediate to advanced skills, with at least one year
active use of ArcView (some ARC/INFO also preferred) and Spatial Analyst

preferred, some graphic design skills valuable, database and complex
spreadsheet experience crucial.

ABOUT THE GREENINFO NETWORK PROJECT:

The Packard Foundation is investing $170 million over five years to protect
land in three major regions of California, by supporting the work of scores
of non-profits. This funding will leverage many other efforts and financing
to conserve key landscapes in the state. GreenInfo Network is providing GIS
support to many of the foundation's grantees and to the foundation itself.
GreenInfo Network is a non-profit organization that provides information and
mapping support to public interest organizations, mainly in California. With
a staff of six-eight persons, GreenInfo has advanced capabilities for GIS
and for its use by environmental, public health and social service
non-profit organizations.

The fellow, working with and under supervision of Greeninfo Network staff,
will: a) support individual Packard grantee groups as needed; b) assist in
development of specialized GIS techniques and information useful to such
groups; and c) document GIS data and strategies used by GreenInfo Network.
The specific projects are not possible to define exactly, due to the
responsive nature of GreenInfo's work, but could include support of: land
trusts, land use policy groups, a statewide resources assessment program,
and other efforts. The duties of the Fellow will be in part defined by the
skill level that they bring to the position.
This project is of variable length but we prefer 18-24 weeks of Fellow time
due to startup requirements.
